Soybeans Close in the Black on Friday

Soybean futures rallied 7 ¾ to 9 ¼ cents in the front months on Friday. Soybean meal was up $1.10/ton, with bean oil 63 points higher. The weekly Export Sales report, pushed back to this morning, indicated just 768,071 MT of soybean sales for the week ending last Thursday. That was on the lower end of estimates, and a marketing year low. China accounted for 578,724 MT in sales. Shipped and unshipped sales combine for 51.931 MT, more than double the same week last year and now 87% of the USDA export projection. The average for this date is 60%. Meal bookings totaled 138,144 MT, with bean sales of 26,302 MT. The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange pegged Argentina’s soybean planting at 39.3%, slightly above last year but lagging the 5-year average of 44.6%.
